Having won three of her four course appearances, and been placed on the other, James Fanshawe’s 7yo mare Hallelujah, will be the top choice of many punters. In her last race, with R Tylicki in the plate, (Lingfield listed 6f 21 Feb) she was slightly outpaced, but stayed on strongly inside the final furlong, going down by a hd and 1 1/2L to the very useful pair Rivellino, and Glen Moss. She is definitely handicapped up to her best, but reunited with Hayley Turner, and racing at her favourite track, it is not difficult to see her being involved at the weekend.
Charles’ Hills is represented by the 6yo gelding Boomerang, who boasts a 100% course record, having won on his only other track appearance (5f). Having his first race for five months, he ran Pretend to 1 1/4L in a class 2 handicap at Wolverhampton off a mark of 95 three weeks ago. As the winner and third that day have both won since, the form looks solid, so racing off 96 on Saturday he is worth considering.
The Roger Ingram trained 5yo Triple Chocolate has the profile of a horse going places. A winner of four of his last five races, he is now rated 18lbs higher than when winning at Windsor last August. Considering it was his first race for five months he did well to win over course and distance six weeks ago off a mark of 85. Twice a winner on Kempton’s poly track he does face a step up in class at the weekend, but with only a 4lb rise in the weights this very progressive animal must have excellent prospects of landing the spoils on Saturday on a surface to which he is well suited.
The other contender worth considering is the Alan Bailey trained Baddilini, as he boasts winning form at class2 level on four occasions. He ran respectably in a 7f listed race at Wolverhampton three weeks ago, finishing 7th, and prior to that battled bravely to land a class 2 7f Lingfield handicap off a mark of 93. Although 7lbs higher on Saturday He may well be better suited by Kempton’s flat 6f and if turning up at the weekend,it would not surprise to see him involved,
Selection: Triple Chocolate.
